Lakers’ Austin Reaves Sidelined with Calf Injury
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves was forced to exit Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to right calf soreness.
Reaves played only nine minutes, scoring six points, before leaving the game late in the first quarter. The Lakers announced during the second quarter that Reaves would not return.
This injury, combined with Rui Hachimura’s strained left knee, left the Lakers without two starters against the Clippers. Hachimura’s injury, sustained during Thursday’s game against Minnesota, is not considered serious, according to coach JJ Redick.
Reaves has been a key contributor to the Lakers’ success, averaging 19.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds while starting 53 games.
Despite their own injury concerns, LeBron James and Luka Doncic played in both games of the back-to-back set against the Timberwolves and the Clippers.
