
Portage County, Ohio – Authorities have confirmed the recovery of the helicopter pilot’s body from the Mogadore Reservoir in Suffield Township, following a fatal crash on Friday morning.
According to Rick Breitenfeldt, spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the pilot was the sole occupant of the Schweizer 269C helicopter. The accident occurred when the helicopter struck a high-tension power line’s top wire shortly before 7 a.m.
Emergency responders launched a recovery operation, and the pilot’s body was retrieved from the reservoir around 10:30 a.m. Authorities have not released any information about the pilot’s identity at this time.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, Portage County Sheriff’s deputies, local fire departments, the Portage County HazMat Team, and Portage County Emergency Management.
